Transitional paper standards are detailed here on this page. The PA series was to be adopted by the ISO 216 standard but the committee in charge decided against it. This was done to preserve the other standards and to not dilute the paper series already in use. Still very commonly used in South East Asia, the transitional paper series is very common in International magazines.
